History

Answer:

The winds of the Cold War blew very strongly in Asia and in the world. The US had sent its forces to Korea to stop what it saw a move of communist expansion and aggression in the 1950s.

It was a reaction that followed the tenets of the containment doctrine that said that the US should employ military, economic and diplomatic means to contain the Soviet Union and the expasion of communism around the world. Besides, the Eisenhower administration had adopted the domino theory, which held that if one country of Asia fell into communist hands, other countries in the region would follow soon.

After the French military defeat in 1954 by communist Vietnamese forces and the end of colonial rule in the mid-1950s, the USA took a larger role in Southeast Asia. The Geneva Accords called for nationwide elections in Vietnam, but fears of a communist victory made Washington opt for not holding the vote. The main goal of American political and military engagement in the Vietnamese civil war to support the pro-Western South Vietnam was the same as in Korea: to stop the expansion of communism. After the 1964 Gulf of Tonkin incident, the US escalated its military presence in Vietnam. In 1965, there were over half a million US troops there.

Do you think President Johnson’s actions deserved to have him removed from office? Why or why not?
Alex17521 [72]

Answer:

president johnson deserved to be removed from office because he violated current legislation

Explanation:

Johnson was impeached on February 24, 1868 by the United States House of Representatives. The reason for the impeachment was Johnson's violation of the felony and misdemeanor law. Under this law the president could only remove individuals from office in the executive cabinet if the senate agreed to the dismissal. Johnson dismissed Edwin M. Stanton without consulting the Senate and therefore violated a law and deserved to be ousted as president.

Which best describes the actions of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee?
OverLord2011 [107]
The student Nonviolent act committee was a group created during the civil rights movement. It was created when Martin Luther King Jr. gave a group of students to form a group to support desegregation and give young blacks a voice in the movement. One of the first protests they did was the Greensboro Sit-in. This is where the group went into restaurants and sat in the white reserved seated areas, the restaurants refused service but not retaliate to violence. A lot of the members also participated in an event called Freedom Rides. After Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat the African American community became enraged and boycotted all public transit systems. One of the last things the group did was participate in Freedom Summer. Durig this Members of the Congress on Racial Equality (CORE) and the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), along with more than 1,000 out-of-state, white people led a campaign to register as many black voters as possible. Everything was going smoothly until members of The Ku Klux Klan accompanied by the police carried out a series of violent attacks against everyone there resulting in false arrests and the murder of at least three people.

How come Russia was mostly Orthodox Christian, but western Europe was Catholic in the 1600s? If you can please get the answer to
Firlakuza [10]

Christianity is the largest religion in Europe. Christianity has been practiced in Europe since the 1st century, and a number of the Pauline Epistles were addressed to Christians living in Greece, as well as the Roman Empire.

According to a survey by the Pew Research Center in 2012, found that 76.2% of Europeans considered themselves Christians.

Catholics were at the time of the survey the largest Christian group in Europe, accounting for more than 48% of European Christians. The second-largest Christian group in Europe were the Orthodox, who made up 32% of European Christians.Although the Protestant Reformation began in Europe, only about 19% of European Christians were part of the Protestant tradition. Russia is the largest Christian country in Europe by population, followed by Germany and Italy.

For at least a millennium and a half, Europe has been nearly equivalent to Christian culture, even though the religion was inherited from the Middle East. Christian culture was the predominant force in Western civilization, guiding the course of philosophy, art, and science.

Europe has a rich Christian culture, especially as numerous saints, martyrs and popes were European themselves. All of the popes from 741 to 2013 were from Europe. Europe brought together many of the Christian holy sites and heritage and religious centers.
