I believe it is different. Terrorism is out of hate. Warfare, I feel, is from misunderstanding of other countries and can be found where one country is trying to dictate another country and th st country that is trying to be dictated tries to defend it's self.
Lincoln was very strongly against slavery, and slavery was a favoured view at that time. People in the South were upset about him winning because they liked slavery. However the North wanted to abolish slavery.
