Answer:

Bar and Lexical scale

Explanation:

A map is the two-dimensional representation of the earth, that shows the features and countries and the water bodies on earth with proper latitude and longitudes. The land areas are highlighted by different colors except blue as blue color is used to indicate the oceans and other water bodies on earth.

These maps are comprised of north direction, index and the scale of maps.

<u>A map scale is defined as the ratio between the distance on a map to the actual distance of the ground surface.</u> It is given on the outer edge of maps. This map scale enables us to calculate the actual distance on the earth's surface.

The scale of a map is generally of two types. They are-

1) <u>Bar scale-</u> here it is a visual scale, directly measurable and is quite commonly used.

2) <u>Lexical scale-</u> here it is a non-visual scale and calculations are made by using conversions.

10. What is the specific heat of an unknown substance if a 2.50 g sample releases 12 calories as its
Sergeu [11.5K]

Answer:

c = 4016.64 j/g.°C

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of substance = 2.50 g

Calories release = 12 cal (12 ×4184 = 50208 j)

Initial temperature = 25°C

Final temperature = 20°C

Specific heat of substance = ?

Formula:

Q = m.c. ΔT

Q = amount of heat absorbed or released

m = mass of given substance

c = specific heat capacity of substance

ΔT = change in temperature

Solution:

Q = m.c. ΔT

ΔT  = T2 - T1

ΔT  = 20°C - 25°C

ΔT  = -5°C

50208 j = 2.50 g . c. -5°C

50208 j = -12.5 g.°C .c

50208 j /-12.5 g.°C =  c

c = 4016.64 j/g.°C

What is the molar mass of Al(NO3)3 · 3H2O?
Nana76 [90]

Answer:

Go to your periodic table and look for each element. Find the mass for Aluminum, Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Hydrogen.

After you find those, for each compound you must add them together and find the least amount of sig figs after the decimal point.

For the first compound, Al(NO3)3, you will have a total of

1 Aluminum atom

3 Nitrogen atoms

9 Oxygen atoms

Aluminum has 26.982 g/mol

Nitrogen has 14.007 g/mol

Oxygen has 15.999 g/mol

Now multiply those numbers by the amount of atoms of each element.

(1)26.982 g/mol = 26.982 g/mol

(3)14.007 g/mol = 42.021 g/mol

(9)15.999 g/mol = 143.991 g/mol

now add all of those numbers together, and you see that their least significant figure after the decimal is 3, so round to 3 digits after the decimal point.

26.983 + 42.021 + 143.991 = 212.994

now do the same for the other compound

to start you off.. you have

6 Hydrogen atoms

3 Oxygen atoms

Hydrogen has 1.009 g/mol

Oxygen has 15.999 g/mol

the least significant figure after the decimal point is 3, so round you 3 digits after the decimal point.

after you finish getting your totals, you. until them and find the greatest sig fig over all. comment on this if you need further instruction :)

How many grams of magnesium chloride must be added to 725 mL of water to create a solution with an anion concentration equal to
Sergio [31]

55.2218 grams of magnesium chloride must be added to 725 mL of water to create a solution with an anion concentration equal to 0.800 M.

<h3>How to calculate the no. of moles ? </h3>

To calculate the number of moles from molarity as

\frac{\text{x moles}\ MgCl_2}{0.725\ \text{L solution}} = \frac{0.8\ \text{moles}\ MgCl_2}{1.0\ \text{L solution}}

x moles MgCl₂ = \frac{0.8\ \text{moles}\ MgCl_2}{1.0\ \text{L solution}} \times 0.725\ \text{L solution}

                         = 0.58 moles MgCl₂

<h3>What is Molar Mass ?</h3>

Mass of one mole of substance is known as molar mass.

Molar mass of MgCl₂ = Atomic mass of Mg + 2 (Atomic mass of Cl)

                                   = 24.31 + 2 (35.5)

                                   = 95.21

<u>Convert moles to grams</u>

0.58 moles MgCl₂ × \frac{95.21\ g}{1\ \text{mole}\ MgCl_2}

= 55.2218 grams

Thus from the above conclusion we can say that 55.2218 grams of magnesium chloride must be added to 725 mL of water to create a solution with an anion concentration equal to 0.800 M.
