Answer:

The basic purpose of having a government is to look after the general Welfare of its people by securing freedom of people and providing justice to everyone, providing the country with defence system and ensure tranquillity (domestic).

To go with the quote John Adams To be good and to do good is all we have to do

Explanation:

I agree with this quote because only this is the method or way in which good can be done to everyone. If we are good we can think about what is correct and in favor of betterment of society and will have the courage to put it into action so that whatever the consequences the society shall benefit from it.

And in my view that is the sole purpose of having a government to get justice and equality in society and its betterment.

What social groups were not being respected by the Enlightenment philosophes and why?
blsea [12.9K]

Answer:

The social critics of the enlightenment in France were called philosophes. Five concepts formed the core of their beliefs: reason, nature, happiness, progress, and liberty. François Marie Arouet, under the pen name Voltaire, was one of the most brilliant and influential philosophers.

He feared religion could become a source of civil war. ... Enlightenment thinkers wanted to improve human conditions on earth rather than concern themselves with religion and the afterlife. These thinkers valued reason, science, religious tolerance, and what they called “natural rights”—life, liberty, and property.
