Yes, I believe that animals, along with cats can think and have feelings. It is not uncommon for an owner to show excitement, and then their animal show it as well when their owner is excited.  Horses for example, when you are nervous the horse is nervous, and it causes for a rough ride. There are many different examples of animals thinking and having feelings.
