13: multiply the amount by the tax rate (to make a percent a decimal move the decimal point 2 places to the left) and add the original amount and the taxed amount together. For 12 do above but then multiply the total by the tip rate and add together (basically the same as the tax again) :) I hope this helps

Determine whether f(x) = –5x^2 – 10x + 6 has a maximum or a minimum value. Find that value and explain how you know.
polet [3.4K]

Answer:

The vertex is the point (-1,11). is a maximum

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The equation of a vertical parabola in vertex form is equal to

f(x)=a(x-h)^{2}+k

where

(h,k) is the vertex

a is a coefficient

if a > 0 the parabola open upward and the vertex is a minimum

if a < 0 the parabola open downward and the vertex is a maximum

we have

f(x)=-5x^{2}-10x+6

Convert to vertex form

Complete the square

f(x)-6=-5x^{2}-10x

Factor the leading coefficient

f(x)-6=-5(x^{2}+2x)

f(x)-6-5=-5(x^{2}+2x+1)

f(x)-11=-5(x^{2}+2x+1)

Rewrite as perfect squares

f(x)-11=-5(x+1)^{2}

f(x)=-5(x+1)^{2}+11

The vertex is the point (-1,11)

The coefficient a=-5

so

a < 0 the parabola open downward and the vertex is a maximum

Questions 1-4 I'm very confused on this
Nadusha1986 [10]

Answer:

 • All four are linear
 • Slopes: 2, 1/2, - 2/3, 3/4

Step-by-step explanation:

Top left

Rate of change is same for each step:

 • 10 per each 5

Slope is:

 • (25 - 15)/(5 - 0) = 10/5 = 2

Top right

Rate of change is same for each step:

 • 1 per each 2

Slope is:

 • (6 - 5)/(3 - 1) = 1/2

Bottom left

Rate of change is same for each step:

 • -2 per each 3

Slope is:

 • (30 - 32)/(5 - 2) = -2/3

Bottom right

Rate of change is same for each step:

 • 3 per each 4

Slope is:

 • (20 - 17)/(5 - 1) = 3/4

What number must be added to 14,056 to result in the sum of 38,773
Vlada [557]
24,717.
What you have to do is subtract 38,773-14,056 and then the answer would be 24,717. So all together 24,717 must be added to result in the sum of 38,773.
14,056+24,717=38,773.
