Primarily speaking, the Address's purpose was to dedicate a plot of land to the fallen soldiers, i.e. the soldiers who died fighting in the Civil War to maintain America united. But we can also mention letter B as a secondary purpose. Lincoln wanted to inspire his audience to keep on fighting. According to him, the fallen soldiers died for the American ideals of freedom and democracy. To honor their death, they should keep on fighting until victory was achieved.
