Women are abandoning basic ways of life and learning to do things for and by themselves

Christianity ranks amongst the top three religions in both regions

Although changing women and men obtain a higher rate for more “traditional” gender role jobs in both the Middle East and America.

Increased schooling and work is become prevalent in each society.

Movements to increase safety and end wars are becoming more prevalent then ever before in both societies.

Large quantities of oil are produces by both regions.

Both the Middle East and America take part in fighting the war in Iraq.

Low or Absent taxes are present in both regions.  

One of the largest common features amongst the U.S and the Middle east relate to the high levels of actively religious people.

Through polls and surveys both the regions select social change as one of the top three issues for philanthropy not only in their regions but in the world.

A distinctive dissatisfaction with the current government can be observed.

Both regions strongly long for reformations or possible revolution within their goverance.

DIFFERENCES

U.S ominant religion- Christianity  

Middle East dominant religion- Islamic

Both women and men often take on non-stereotypical roles in means of supporting their household. -U.S                                                               Men-responsible for their families, their “duty” to support and their household. M.E

The United States- individualistic and liberal in nature

The Middle East- conservative and traditional in nature

Clothing- in the United States miniature acts such as dress-codes are enforced simply inside of specified work areas.

Clothing-women required to cover certain aspects of the body as to adhere the traditional dress code.

Due to portrayal and harmful stereotypes countries often perceive Americans are often seen as rich, hypocritical, oppressive (towards women), and a group with no family values.

Due to portrayal and harmful stereotypes countries often d epict Middle Easterns as criminals, obtaining multiple spouses, oppressive (towards women), violent, and a place populous by men who ride camels within a large sandy desert.

In the United States women and men do not face repercussions for job decisions.

Women face a number of both cultural and physical repercussions based upon job choice.

The same education is offered towards women as to men. -U.S

Women are often seen as people who do not need to be educated beyond a certain expectation. -M.E

A closer wage amount equal is present for both men and women in American society.

A large gap between both male and female workers/wage gap is prevalent in the Middle Eastern society,

Every state in America obtains laws which prohibited those under a certain age to wed.

Areas in the Middle East such as Yemen obtain no laws which regard how old someone must be to marry.

Movements for equal opportunity amongst women are represented heavily in America.

Although many participate, representation is not seen throughout the media for women in the Middle East rather than America.

Both parents obtain the same (similar) level of responsibility for their children’s actions. U.S

Women are at fault for the behavior of their children. M.E

Although considerably high the United States ranks much lower than countries similar to Yemen in the Middle East.

Countries in the Middle east obtain “top-ten” numbers on the charts regarding danger and violence.
