Answer:

Myoglobin carries oxygen in muscles and stores oxygen

Explanation:

Myoglobin is a protein that carries oxygen and is primarily found in the muscle cells and plays the role of an intracellular store for oxygen.  When there is a higher concentration of myoglobin in the cells of the muscles it helps an organism hold breath for a long time, because myoglobin stores oxygen. Myoglobin has higher affinity for oxygen compared to hemoglobin.

The red blood cell supplies myoglobin with oxygen, the oxygen supplied is then transported by myoglobin to muscle cell mitochondria, which is then used to produce energy in mitochondrial cellular respiration.

Answer:

The function of myoglobin is to carry oxygen in the blood and stores oxygen.

Explanation:

Myoglobin is a sarcoplasmic protein that stores oxygen in the muscle tissues of vertebrates, it is especially important in aquatic mammals, which are submerged at great depths, these need to remain without breathing for long periods of time, so in their muscles there is a large amount of myoglobin that supplies oxygen during this time. In addition, myoglobin captures oxygen from the blood and facilitates the diffusion from the capillaries into the cells (mitochondria), which is limited by the low solubility of oxygen in aqueous solutions, in order to feed the respiratory chain.
