Answer:

The correct answer is d. Antigens only come from microbes. This statement does not describe antigens.

Explanation:

Our immune system produces antibodies when it detects harmful elements, called antigens. Antigens are substances (usually proteins), when introduced into an organism, trigger a defensive reaction. Thus, epitopes are the parts of a molecule that will be recognized by an antibody and to which it will bind. The vast majority of immunogens are proteins. These can be pure proteins or either glycoproteins or lipoproteins. Proteins are generally very good immunogens. Pure polysaccharides and lipopolysaccharides are good immunogens. Nucleic acids are generally weak immunogens. However, they can become immunogenic when they are formed by a single chain or when they are coupled to proteins. In general, lipids are not immunogenic but can behave like haptens. Antigens exhibit (or can show) a series of immunological properties including immunogenicity, which is the ability to stimulate an immune response, that is, to produce antibodies or a state of cellular immunity.

TEA [102]

Answer: prefrontal cortex/reticular activating system

Explanation:

The prefrontal cortex is the part of the frontal lobe of the brain. The function of the prefrontal cortex is to control the planning, motivation, decision making, controls the emotions, behavior and also responsible for the awareness of self and the surrounding.

This region consists of cortical urinary center which controls the urination, anterior and middle arteries which controls the flow of blood. Thus this center is essential for self-awareness.

The reticular activating system can be defined as the system of neuron network. This is located in the brain stem, this is projected anteriorly to the hypothalamus which produce a behavior response. It is also connected to the posteriorly to the thalamus and is responsible for activation of awake in an individual.

The lining of the air sacs in the lungs (alveoli) is comprised of what epithelium?
BabaBlast [244]

The epithelium is a type of body tissue that forms the covering on all internal and external surfaces of your body.

The lining of the air sacs in the lungs (alveoli) is comprised of what epithelium?

Simple squamous epithelium contain the air sacs or alveoli of the lungs. This kind of squamous epithelial cells are slightly porous which allows the oxygen from the air to enter the blood in the capillaries of the lung. So the squamous epithelium is the epithelium in which the lining of the air sacs or alveoli occurs. Each alveolus is lined by the squamous epithelium.

So we can conclude that: The epithelium is a type of body tissue that forms the covering on all internal and external surfaces of your body.

How many chambers does a frog heart have and why is this advancement necessary for a land animal?
Galina-37 [17]
A frog heart has 3 chambers, 1 ventricle and 2 atria. One atrium (the right) receives deoxygenated blood from the frog's body (in the systemic circulation) and then pumped to the single ventricle wherein it will go to the lungs to be oxygenated. Another atrium (the left) received oxygenated blood from the lungs then pumped to the single ventricle wherein it will go to the systemic circulation. In the single ventricle, some form of mixing of the oxygenated and deoxygenated blood happens but since the frog is a cold blooded animal, the decrease in the concentration of oxygen is deemed superficial.

This advancement allows the frog to live on land using the lungs as the primary organ for oxygenation of the blood.
