A particular operation may be performed by two kinds of process. Process A requires a setup time of 40 minutes, whereas Process

B requires a setup time of 180 minutes. On the other hand, the per unit run times are: 0.015 minutes on A and 0.0023 minutes on B. Which batch sizes would you route to A and which ones to B?

Answer:

If batch size is more than 11,024 we will prefer  B process otherwise we will prefer Process A.

Explanation:

Given,

Setup time of Process A = 40 minutes.

Setup time of Process B= 180 minutes.

The production time for the x batch size in the process A is given by Ta(x)=40+0.015×x

The production time for the x batch size in the process B is given by

Tb(x)=180+0.0023×x

Equating the both equations to the find the balancing point Ta(x) =Tb(x)

                                 40+0.015×x = 180+0.0023×x

Rearranging the terms in the equations and bringing the similar terms on same side of the equation.

                                x×(0.015-0.0023) = 180-40

                                         ⇒0.0127×x  = 140

                                                         x   = 11,023.6

Round off x we get x= 11,024

Therefore if batch size is more than 11,024 we will prefer  B process otherwise we will prefer Process A.

Troyanec [42]

Answer:

The markup calculated as a result of information about the elasticity of demand

Explanation:

As a monopoly seller of pharmaceutical products the price set as markup would be above our marginal cost.

There are three facts about markup:

1. The Markup is not to be a price below marginal cost of the pharmaceutical product.

2. Markup is smaller when demand is more elastic. Remember if the price elasticity of demand is lower than 1, (negative) a rise in price causes an

increase in revenue for the seller.

Therefore having a -4 elasticity of demand could imply more profits for the firm.

Tina's aquarium has a capacity of 40 gallons of water she plans to stock her aquarium with 0.25 inches of fish per quart of Capa
fomenos

Answer:

The number of mollies will be 20

Explanation:

Capacity of aquarium is 40 gallons

and

1 gallon = 4 quart

Therefore, 40 gallons will be:

40 gallons = 4 × 40

= 160 quart

Now, As per question,

0.25 inches of fish need 1 quart capacity

1 quart = 0.25 inches fish

So,

160 quart capacity will be:

= 0.25 × 160

= 40 inches fishes

And the size of mollies fish is 2 inches

The, the number of mollies fish will be:

Number of mollies = Total size of fish / Size of mollies fish

= 40 / 2

= 20

Therefore, the number of mollies will be 20.
