Hatcheries provide artificial shelter for fish versus the natural shelter found in a stream.

Compared to hatchery fish, wild fish are usually more successful at surviving the rigors of the natural environment long enough to reproduce. Fewer than 1% of the smolts released from the hatchery return home to spawn.

Where does carbon come from in a winogradsky column? 2. why is carbon important? 3. what purpose does calcium sulfate serve in t
Thepotemich [5.8K]
Carbon comes from blackened marshmallow or egg-shells, newspapers which contain cellulose, and sulphur source, for example, calcium sulphate in winogradsky column.
Carbon is important because it promotes the growth of different microorganisms. For example chlorobium, chromatium, rhodomicrobium, and Beggiatoa.
Hydrogen sulphide gradient is generated from bottom to the top in a winogradsky column because they dominate the zone with sulphur which reduces bacteria.
Photosynthesis is different between cyanobacteria and green and purple sulphur which is sulphur anaerobic bacteria being the top layer of aerobic bacteria which produces carbon dioxide which feeds back into the column by creating another reaction.

infected mosquitoes landed on socks three times more often than uninfected mosquitoes. Explain how this information can be used
NARA [144]

Answer: Possibly increase the production of socks

Explanation: As it implies, the mosquitoes that have sickness land on socks more often. Based on this information, since we know that malaria comes from mosquitoes, we can increase the production of socks, as that will separate most of the infected mosquitoes with the other mosquitoes, as most of the infected ones will fly over to the sock. With this scenario, we can bait the mosquitoes and know which ones are infected
