Answer:

Joining the army anyway.

Explanation:

Southern Blacks were not legally allowed to fight in the Civil War. However, many did not respect this rule and joined the fight anyway. African Americans had a particular interest in the Civil War, as the states of the Confederacy were slave states, and the states of the Union were free states. The outcome of the war could determine the status under which the slaves lived. Therefore, many of them contributed to the war effort.

does the culture of time in which the constitution was written excuse inequalities that the document allowed?
tankabanditka [31]
No.
there really isn't an excuse to why anybody isn't treated or seen as an equal. Everybody is and should be treated an equal. In back then, if you're going to create equality and speak equality you should probably practice what you preach.

what did the jewish, mexicans, chinese italian immigrants and have to do with the rise of political machines? Who, what why, etc
snow_lady [41]
To begin with, a political machine is an organization in which an organization gains support via promising rewards to those who keep them in power. It's designed to keep a particular group in power by promising favors. Typically, immigrants who first arrived here were impoverished, so political machines became so successful because they would promise to set immigrants up with homes or jobs or food so long as they had their vote.
So in short:

Who: Organizations whose main goals were getting and keeping power.

What: They essentially bribed immigrants for their votes.

Why: Political Machines did this to stay in power.
