Answer: b must equal a.

Or b must equal a multiple of the reciprocal of "a" if "a" is an integer.

Or "b" is a fraction with the numerator equal to "a" or a multiple of "a." If "a" is an integer

Step-by-step explanation:

Integers are whole numbers. If the denominator of the fraction is equal to the numerator, the value is 1 which is an integer.

If a is divided by its reciprocal the quotient is a whole number. For example: 3÷ 1/3 = 9. 4÷ 1/8= 32.

If b is a fraction that is not a multiple of the reciprocal, the quotient may be another non-intrger rational number. 3÷ 4/5 is 15/4 or 3 3/4.

7÷ 7/8 is 56/7 which is equivalent to 8, an integer.

You're thinking b=1 will always give an integer, certainly true.

Then you think b=-1 will also always give an integer, so

Answer: ±1

Then you remember that a/b may not be a reduced fraction, so other bs beside the unit make give integers.   The condition for an integer is

b | a

read 'b divides a'  meaning a is a multiple of b.

Then you realize that a and b might not even b integers themselves.

Let's say the above answer is correct with the additional criteria that a and b are integers with no common factors.

The cost of 7/2 meters of clothes is $231/4. What is the cost of one meter of cloth?
klio [65]
First of all, i will start by comparing the given values. That will be;
7/2 meters=$231/4
     1 meter= x
  I represented the unknown value by x. Anyway, you have to cross and multiply. SO 7/2 multiplies x to give you 7/2x and 1 multiplies 231/4 to give you 231/4. That will be;
7/2x=231/4
  Divide the both sides by 7/2.
   7/2x÷7/2=231/4÷7/2
   When dividing fractions, the division sign changes to a multiplication sign and the fraction on the right turns upside down. So;
x=231/4 x 2/7
x=231/14
x=$33/2.
 Hope i helped.

gayaneshka [121]
To find the slope, we can use the formula m = y change/x change. Since we already have 2 points, we can subtract the second coordinates from the first ones.
1. (-18-(-18))/(15-6) = 0/9 = 0. m=0x
2. (16-12)/0-8) = 4/-8 = -1/2. m = -1/2x
Hope this helps.

It’s a statistics mathematical question
Olin [163]

Answer: About 0.8034 of the items will be classified as good.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's first understand that because 13% of the items are defective, that means 87% of the items are not defective. And because the inspector incorrectly classifies the items 9% of the time, it's important to understand that that means both the defective and the not defective items may be incorrectly classified. In order to figure out what proportion will be classified as 'good,' let's set up a tree diagram:

--0.13--defective

            |__0.09__ classified as 'good'

            |__0.91__ classified as 'defective'

--0.87--not defective

           |__0.09__ classified as 'defective'

           |__0.91__classified as 'good'

This chart essentially reiterates the information in the prompt, showing that 9% of each type of item will be incorrectly classified. Now we need to find the proportion of items that will be classified as 'good.' To do this, we must multiply the proportion of items classified as 'good' by the proportion of items that are either defective or not defective for both types, like this:

(0.13 * 0.09) + (0.87 * 0.91)

this expression in words means: "13% of the items will be classified as good 9% of the time, and the other 87% of the items will be classified as good 91% of the time"

When we multiply and add these numbers together, we get 0.8034, but you should round to 2 or 3 decimal places like the prompt instructs. Hope this helped! :)
