For the answer to the question above,
So I'll do the computations and try my best to explain, but you're going to have to follow along.

For the sake of simplicity, lets just say that the 3rd term they gave you was >3, and the 25th is >25. So, instead of saying A sub-3 is 3 and A sub-25 is 25, you set 3 as A sub-one. Now, heres the tricky part. Set 25 to A sub-23. (why? because 1 to 23 is the same amount away as 3 to 25).

A3=3, A25=25 }
A1=3, A23=25

Use the formula An = A1 + (n-1)D.
(read A-sub n is A sub 1 + the nth term minus 1 times D)

A23(A sub-23)= 3 + (23-1)D
25 = 3 + 22D
-3 -3
22 = 22D
D = 1

Again, An = A1 + (n-1)D.

A3 = A1 + (3-1) X 1
3 = A1 + 2
-2 -2
A1 = 1
An = 1 + (n-1) X 1
An = 1 + 1n - 1
An = 1n + 0

So you are left with the general formula An = 1n. You can use this formula to find any term in the sequence, all you gotta do is plug in (An) the number you want. In this case, plug in A sub-5 if you want to find the fifth term. You get

An = 1n
A5 = 1X5
A5 = 5

The fifth term in the sequence is 5. (it goes 1,2,3,4,,5,..)

What expression is equivalent to n^2+26n+88 for all values of n.
VikaD [51]

When using the X method to solve, you can plug in the values given to you in the answers. 8 and 11 multiplied does equal 88 but when added they don't equal to 26 so A is wrong. 4 and 22 do equal 26 but when multiplied, they don't equal to 88 so B is also wrong. 22 and 4 added together equals 26 and multiplied it equals to 88. So C is your answer.

the rectangle shown has an area of 105 square inches. the width is x+ 16 inches and the length is x. find the dimensions of the
Brums [2.3K]

Answer:

Length = 5

Width = 21

Step-by-step explanation:

(x)(x + 16) = 105

x^2 + 16x = 105

x^2 + 16x - 105 = 0

(x - 5) x ( x + 21) = 0

x - 10 = 0

x = 5

x + 21 = 0

x = -21

Now that we have the zeroes.

We have to find the most viable one to put in.

Using -21 would not make sense, so we will use 5.

Plug it in:

x = 5

(5) (5 + 16) = 105

5 ( 21) = 105

Use a graphing calculator to solve the equation in the interval from 0 to 2pi. Round to the nearest hundredth.
nevsk [136]
On your calculator, make sure you're in radian mode, not degree mode, that you are in a trig coordinate plane (do this by hitting "zoom" and choosing ZTrig), and when you enter the function into the "y =", you have to enter it in like this: 7cos(2x)-3. Hit "graph" and you'll see that the wave goes through the x-axis in 4 places within your specified interval. Hit 2nd and "trace" and then "zero". Move your cursor so it's just above the x-axis where the curve goes through and hit enter, then move it so it's just below the x-axis where the curve goes through and hit enter again. Hit enter a 3rd time, and you SHOULD see that your x has a value while y = 0. Do that for all of the places where the curve goes through the x-axis. That's how you find the zeros of a trig curve (or any curve, for that matter) on a calculator. The zeros are the solutions. If this was solvable like a regular equation, using trig identities and right triangles, you wouldn't have to use your calculator. But just like when you go to factor a second degree polynomial and you're having trouble with it you can use the quadratic formula and it's never-fail, neither is your calculator.

What is 3(2x-4)=5x+2
otez555 [7]
First we distribute 3 into 2x and -4.

3 x 2x = 6x
3 x -4 = -12

That will make the left side of the equation:

6x - 12 = 5x + 2

Now we subtract 5x on both sides of the equation.

x - 12 = 2

Finally we add 12 on both sides of the equation.

x = 14 is the answer
