The American Dream is about having the opportunity to have success in life regardless of where you started. It doesn't mean that everyone is guaranteed success, however, everyone has the chance to excel and ideally, won't be discriminated against based on background. That's why there are public schools, guaranteeing the opportunity of education, and everyone can vote, guaranteeing everyone has a voice and say in changing laws.

The second part of this question is up to you to answer. My experience with the American Dream won't be the same as yours and if you were to use my answer it wouldn't be genuine and true, but hopefully my idea/definition of the American Dream above helps you think of something.
