Why did many farmers in the Great Plains choose to mortgage their farms prior to the Great Depression?
Sliva [168]

"Farmers found that the price of wheat began to rise dramatically after the war and Farmers were prosperous during the war since growing conditions were excellent" hence many farmers in the Great Plains choose to mortgage their farms prior to the Great Depression.

Answer: Option A and E

Explanation:

Many federal land laws appealed people to go to the Southern Great Plains before the Great Depression after the Civil War. They were given an incentive to create the acres of land efficient enough for production. It was according to the "Homestead Act of 1862."

Also novice farmers went to the square because of this. They thought that if a lot of people plow the region, the place will become more prosperous, particularly the Great Plains climate. Farmers decided to leverage their farms during World War I due to the extreme rising wheat prices. Most farmers plow a large area of land which has resulted in intensive cultivation. It was a time when the peasants were considered wealthy because of outstanding climatic and land conditions.

How did the arms race affect America?
xeze [42]

Answer: The US government's decision to develop a hydrogen bomb, first tested in 1952, committed the United States to an ever-escalating arms race with the Soviet Union. The arms race led many Americans to fear that nuclear war could happen at any time, and the US government urged citizens to prepare to survive an atomic bomb.
