11. Jefferson and Madison opposed Hamilton's economic plan because they believed the federal government should only use the powers given to them by the Constitution. Jefferson and Madison believed in states rights and that the federal government should not intervene in the states' ability to govern. Hamilton, however, believed that a strong central government was important for the stability of the nation.

12. Land and gold first attracted settlers to the West. Opportunities for farming and the chance to get rich was the reason why the British colonists originally wanted to expand pass the Appalachian Mountains.

13. One of the most important accomplishments of the national Congress under the Articles of Confederation was the plan for settling and governing the Northwest Territory. The Northwest Territory was given to the U.S. as part of the terms of the Treaty of Paris, which ended the American Revolution. The national Congress enacted the Northwest Ordinance in 1787, established the area as an organized territory. The territory was also required to be split into at least three states. It was eventually divided into five states: Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.

14. The belief that it was God's plan for the United States to own most or all of North America was known as Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny was the ideology that drove the United States to expand westward, eventually expanding into Texas, California, Oregon, and Washington.

The Anaconda Plan included the strategy for the Union forces to blockade Southern ports in order to prevent the Confederacy from getting supplies from abroad. The plan was organized by Union general Winfield Scott. However, it was criticized by other Union generals as being too passive, because the plan did not include an invasion of the South.

How do German people feel about the nation after World War I
Lunna [17]

I t is very difficult to find out a nation´s feeling towards a conflict which had many consequences, specially because this is a sensitive topic. The dicussion nowadays is focused on how can be interpreted the German role during WWI. And the discussion is around two specific concepts: guilt or responsibility. The German Nation is certainly a different one from that involved in WWI and WWII. This is the reason why it is reasonable to state that Germany is a nation aware of their history and willing to use the experience learnt in those events to educate new generations of conscious people regarding conflict.

How did the statues contribute to the elimination of the tree population on easter island?
Marat540 [252]
One theory is that in order to move the giant heads from one part of island to the other itrequired them to cut down trees to use them as rollers to roll the heads down to the edge of the island. As each generation sought to make a bigger and better statue, it required that more trees be cleared. Eventually, the forest disappeared.
