t was an action of trespass vi et armis instituted in the Circuit Court by Scott against Sandford.

Prior to the institution of the present suit, an action was brought by Scott for his freedom in the Circuit Court of St. Louis county, (State court,) where there was a verdict and judgment in his favor. On a writ of error to the Supreme Court of the State, the judgment below was reversed, and the case remanded to the Circuit Court, where it was continued to await the decision of the case now in question.

The declaration of Scott contained three counts: one, that Sandford had assaulted the plaintiff; one, that he had assaulted Harriet Scott, his wife; and one, that he had assaulted Eliza Scott and Lizzie Scott, his children.

President Andrew Johnson said that "this is a country for white men." How did he act on this belief?
dolphi86 [110]
He believed that Native Americans at the time had no rights and that they were simply put into the situation they were in since inferior to whites. So he forced them to move off their land in order to create living space for US citizens and to mine for gold and other precious metals found in the NA land. Thus causing the infamous "Trail of Tears".

Reason for the 1929 wall street stock crash as well as economic And social impact of the crash in USA
Vlad [161]

It was economic because when the stock market crashed, all businesses were affected.  Banks as well as businesses shut down.  It was also social because people who had once enjoyed an affluent lifestyle were now completely broke.  Some sold fruit in the corners just to get by.

What were the roots of Jefferson's conflict with the federal court system, and how did the case of Marbury v. Madison fit into t
Phoenix [80]
Jefferson's main issue with the federal court system was that it was too powerful, since he favored states' rights over the federal government. Marbury v. Madison fit in because it established "judicial review" which meant the court could deem laws unconstitutional.
