Can someone explain to me the steps to this problem in detail? For example, in the photo of the 2 circles, where did the 2&4

come from? Why is P(A and B) = 3?

P(A and B) = 3 is incorrect. It should be P(A and B) = 1/6

This is because there is one number in the overlapping region, and this is out of 6 numbers total.

The 2 & 4 are values that do not fit either event A or event B, such that

event A = rolling an odd number = {1, 3, 5}

event B = rolling a number that is a multiple of 3 = {3, 6}

however, the values 2 & 4 are still found on the die that is rolled, so they are listed outside the two venn diagram circles.

Step-by-step explanation:

If you want to find the probability of union of two overlapping events,

when you add the probabilities of both the events, that overlapping part gets added two times, so you gotta subtract it.

Kite GHIJ has sides GH, HI, IJ and JG. What are the diagonals of this figure? Select all that apply.
juin [17]

Answer:

  GI or HJ

Step-by-step explanation:

Diagonals connect non-adjacent vertices.

That is, the diagonal with G as an endpoint will not connect to vertices H or J, but will connect to vertex I. Likewise the diagonal with H as one end will have J as the other end. A quadrilateral has only two (2) diagonals. Of course, each can be named two ways:

 GI or IG

 HJ or JH

The two triangleshaped gardens are congruent. Find all of the missing side lengths and angle measures. Show any necessary work
pantera1 [17]
The two figures are in the file attached.

Congruency means that all the respcetive sides and angles are equals.

Then, the three angles are :

y = 38°

x = 90°

w = 180° - 90° - 38° = 52

The three sides are:

z= 10yd
v= 7.9yd
u=6.2yd

You have all the measures as a function of yd, but you do not have any information about yd, then it is not possible to find the real lenghts.

All you can tell is that the sides obey Pythagoream theorem:

u^2 + v^2 = z^2

But that is not enough to find one side, because you do not know any of them.

For example if you apply Pytagorean theorem you cand do"

(7.9yd)^2 + (6.2)^2 = (10yd)^2

but that cannot be solved for yd, because they are factors of all the terms in both sides, which mean that they cancel to obtain:

(7.9)^2 + (6.2)^2 = (10)^2, which is not any new information.

Also you can think about sine theorem, but it does not help, because you also need one side.

Then you only can tell the missing angles, as I have shown, but not the misssing lengths.

What are the solutions for x when y is equal to 0 in the following quadratic
Scrat [10]

Answer: Option C

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the quadratic equation y = x^2 - 13x, substitute y=0:

 0 = x^2 - 13x

In this case, to find the solutions of the given quadratic equation, you must factor out the variable "x". Then:

0=x(x-13)

Therefore, you get that the solutions of this equation are the following:

x=0\\\\\\x-13=0\\x=13

Then, the answer is:

x = 0\ or\ x = 13

This matches with the option C.
