The art of painting and marking on rocks found in Africa  are the continent's oldest form of art. The rock art, which is still practiced today includes theriantheopes and shamanism with the depiction of sophisticated human and animal figures.

2. Chauvet cave

In southern France, the Chauvet cave can be found with paintings and engravings of mammoths, lions, and rhinos including eye catching images sch as the Panel of Lions and the Horse Panel which are dated to about 30,000 BC

3. Lascaux

Complex prehistoric paintings dating back to 15,000 BC were discovered in Lascaux and Chauvet caves. The paintings were done in a wide variety of colors and grandeur with the torches and lamps lighten up the darkened caves which where not accessible to natural Sun light
