One way natural hazard such as climate change and drought affect a population is by making some(if not all) plant species consumed by animals unavailable or less available. This would disrupt the food chain in the community. Having less producers would cause a definite decline in primary consumers’ populations which leads to a decline in secondary consumers’ populations and so on.

The animals could be more directly affected by these hazards. Water unavailability and extreme change in temperature can wipe out individuals that are not adapted to these environments.
