CRISPR-Cas9 is, no doubt, one of the most revolutionary discoveries to have ever happened in the world of both biology, and chemistry (biochemistry). I have done a school fair project on this before, and doing research on it had been the best part. There is so much potential in CRISPR-Cas9, and scientists are learning new things all the time. In fact, an experiment was conducted on rats infected with HIV. The researchers injected just the rat's tail with CRISPR-Cas9, and the result? more than 50% of infected cells in the rat body was HIV-free! This is a really interesting topic, and it is also a debatable one too, as there are still ethical questions surrounding the use of such a powerful tool on human beings.
