Answer:

The impetus to cede the French colony of Louisiana to the Spanish was the long, expensive conflict of the French and Indian War, also known as the Seven Year's War, between France and Great Britain. Initially, France offered Louisiana to Spain in order to bring Spain into the conflict on the French side. Spain declined. Spanish officials were uncertain about what exactly constituted the vague and immense colony of Louisiana. When the "Family Compact," a supposedly secret alliance between France and Spain, became known to the British, they attacked Spain. In November 1762 in the secret Treaty of Fontainebleau, France handed over Louisiana and the Isle of Orleans to Spain in order to "sweeten the bitter medicine of Spanish defeat and to persuade them not to fight on" against the British. 6

The cession of Louisiana was kept secret for over a year. France feared that Louisiana would become British. As a result, France sought to preempt any actions that Britain would undertake if it became known that Louisiana no longer enjoyed French protection before the Spanish were able to occupy and defend it. Great Britain officially conceded Spanish ownership of Louisiana in February 1763 in one of the series of treaties ending the French and Indian War. This gesture was a mere formality, for the territory had been in Spanish hands for almost three months.

Which of the following best describes the industrial revolution?A. fewer people living healthier, longer livesB. more rural comm
kvasek [131]

Answer:

C. an urban society with increased access to goods and fossil fuel use.

Explanation:

The Industrial Revolution is marked with scientific changes that also led to the invention of machineries that used fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and crude oil.

The use of these fossil fuels accelerated the industrial production and increased the need of workforce, which pushed the population to leave the rural communities and move to urban areas. The urban society grew largely together with factories, while the rural activities such as growing crops and farming techniques declined.

What were Lenin and the Bolshevik's first priorities upon seizing power? Why were those priorities what they were? How does this
iren2701 [21]

Answer:

In November 2017, Russia was in chaos. There were food and fuel shortages, social agitation, rising inflation, a weak government that didn´t have full control, and the country was still engaged in World War I; Russian armies had suffered enormous casualties at the hands of the Germans. Several large units had rebelled against central command and were refusing to fight. So the priorities of Lenin were two: to win the immediate allegiance of workers and peasants by declaring the abolition of private property and the redistribution of land among the peasantry (Decree on Land), and to disentangle Russia from the War (Decree on Peace).

In his book, Lenin argues that the state is an organized form of violence that aims at supressing some classes. The state is an instrument of domination and control by the ruling class. The proletarian revolution must be violent and destroy the old bourgeois state that opresses workers.
