Let x equal the number of department store gift cards and let y equal the number of coffee shop gift cards.

We now have two equations making this a linear system of equation

50x + 20y = 760 (the total price of both types of cards purchased)

x + y = 20 (total number of gift cards)

Solve for y for the second equation and you get y = 20 - x.

Substitute this for y into the first equation then solve for x.

50x + 20(20 - x) = 760
50x - 20x + 400 = 760
30x = 360

x = 12 (department store gift cards)

Substitute x into the second equation and solve for y.

12 + y = 20
y = 8 (coffee shop gift cards)

Our final answer is 12 department store gift cards and 8 coffee shop gift cards.

Here are the prices of five new pairs of hockey skates, in dollars: 59, 60, 65, 99, 175. The standard deviation is about $49. If
Phoenix [80]

Answer:

The standard deviation of the new data will be increased as compared to the previous standard deviation of the data.

Step-by-step explanation:

The prices are given to be : 59, 60, 65, 99, 175

Standard deviation = $49

Now, if we add or subtract any constant value to each of the terms then the standard deviation remains unchanged.

But, we add a new price in the given data that is $450

\text{New standard deviation = }\sqrt{\frac{\sum (\bar{x}-x_i)^2}{n}}\\\\\bar{x}\text{ is the mean of data after adding 450 and}\\x_i\text{ are the price values of the sample data}

Hence, Standard deviation is calculated to be 139.5

Therefore, the standard deviation of the new data will be increased as compared to the previous standard deviation of the data.

According to a study in a medical journal, 202 of a sample of 5,990 middle-aged men had developed diabetes. It also found that m
tekilochka [14]

Answer:

0.0588 = 5.88% probability that a middle-aged man with diabetes is very active

Step-by-step explanation:

Conditional Probability

We use the conditional probability formula to solve this question. It is

P(B|A) = \frac{P(A \cap B)}{P(A)}

In which

P(B|A) is the probability of event B happening, given that A happened.

P(A \cap B) is the probability of both A and B happening.

P(A) is the probability of A happening.

In this question:

Event A: Has diabetes.

Event B: Is very active.

Probability of having diabetes:

To find this probability, we take in consideration that:

It also found that men who were very active (burning about 3,500 calories daily) were a fourth as likely to develop diabetes compared with men who were sedentary. Assume that one-fifth of all middle-aged men are very active, and the rest are classified as sedentary.

So the probability of developing diabetes is:

x of 4/5 = x of 0.8(not active)

x/4 = 0.25x of 1/5 = 0.2(very active). So

P(A) = 0.8x + 0.25*0.2x = 0.85x

Probability of developing diabetes while being very active:

0.25x of 0.2. So

P(A \cap B) = 0.25x*0.2 = 0.05x

What is the probability that a middle-aged man with diabetes is very active?

P(B|A) = \frac{P(A \cap B)}{P(A)} = \frac{0.05x}{0.85x} = \frac{0.05}{0.85} = 0.0588

0.0588 = 5.88% probability that a middle-aged man with diabetes is very active

Whats the red angle?<br>i cant seem to understand anything
Harrizon [31]

Answer:

65°

Step-by-step explanation:

Sum of interior angles of a triangle = 180°

⇒ m∠EAB = 180 - 90 - 70 = 20°

⇒ m∠DAG = 90 - 45 - 20 = 25°

⇒ m∠AGD = 180 - 90 - 25 = 65°

ΔADG ≅ ΔAFG

⇒ m∠AGD = m∠AGF = 65°

ΔABE ≅ ΔAFE

⇒ m∠AEB = m∠AEF = 70°
