Answer:

  a.  235°

  b. 146.03 km

  c. 105 km

  d. 193 km

Step-by-step explanation:

a. The bearing of E from A is given as 55°. The bearing in the opposite direction, from E to A, is this angle with 180° added:

  bearing of A from E = 55° +180° = 235°

__

b. The internal angle at E is the difference between the external angle at C and the internal angle at A:

  ∠E = 134° -55° = 79°

The law of sines tells you ...

  CE/sin(∠A) = CA/sin(∠E)

  CE = CA(sin(∠A)/sin(∠E)) = (175 km)·sin(55°)/sin(79°) ≈ 146.03 km

  CE ≈ 146 km

__

c. The internal angle at C is the supplement of the external angle, so is ...

  ∠C = 180° -134° = 46°

The distance PE is opposite that angle, and CE is the hypotenuse of the right triangle CPE. The sine trig relation is helpful here:

  Sin = Opposite/Hypotenuse

  sin(46°) = PE/CE

  PE = CE·sin(46°) = 146.03 km·sin(46°) ≈ 105.05 km

  PE ≈ 105 km

__

d. DE can be found from the law of cosines:

  DE² = DC² +CE² -2·DC·CE·cos(134°)

  DE² = 60² +146.03² -2(60)(146.03)cos(134°) ≈ 37099.43

  DE = √37099.43 ≈ 192.6 . . . km

  DE is about 193 km

Is RS perpendicular to DF? Select Yes or No for each statement. R (6, −2), S (−1, 8), D (−1, 11), and F (11 ,4) R (1, 3), S (4,7
guajiro [1.7K]

I'll do the first one to get you started.

Find the slope of the line between R (6,-2) and S (-1,8) to get

m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

m = (8-(-2))/(-1-6)

m = (8+2)/(-1-6)

m = 10/(-7)

m = -10/7

The slope of line RS is -10/7

Next, we find the slope of line DF

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (4-11)/(11-(-1))

m = (4-11)/(11+1)

m = -7/12

From here, we multiply the two slope values

(slope of RS)*(slope of DF) = (-10/7)*(-7/12)

(slope of RS)*(slope of DF) = (-10*(-7))/(7*12)

(slope of RS)*(slope of DF) = 10/12

(slope of RS)*(slope of DF) = 5/6

Because the result is not -1, this means we do not have perpendicular lines here. Any pair of perpendicular lines always has their slopes multiply to -1. This is assuming neither line is vertical.

I'll let you do the two other ones. Let me know what you get so I can check your work.

An object’s speed decreases by 6% for each minute that it is slowing down. What is the percent that it’s speed will decrease ove
Zarrin [17]
It says decreasing so you have to turn it into a percent (.06%) and then sub tract that from 1. After that you put that into an equation.

A particle moves along a line so that its position at any time t > 0 is given by the function s(t) = - t3 + 7t2 - 14t +8 wher
eimsori [14]

Answer:

s(5) = -12

Step-by-step explanation:

s(t) = - t³ + 7t² - 14t +8

Find the displacement during the first 5 seconds.

When t = 5

s(t) = - t³ + 7t² - 14t +8

s(5) = -5³ + 7(5)² - 14(5) + 8

= -125 + 7(25) - 70 + 8

= -125 + 175 - 70 + 8

= -12

s(5) = -12

x = π/6, 5π/6, 7π/6, 11π/6

Step-by-step explanation:

The only things you need to know are 2 things:

1.) csc^2(x)=(csc(x))^2   , the exponent of trig functions are written in the middle

2.) csc(x)=\frac{1}{sin(x)}   , csc() is just the inverse of sin()
