An adult polar bear is 8 times longer than a newborn.
Newborn= 12 1/2 ft
Multiply this by 8.
But first you have to turn the fraction
12 1/2 into an improper fraction. To do this you have to multiply the denominator, 2, by the whole number, 12, and add the numerator to the product, which totals to 25. The fraction is 25/2. (25/2 * 8/1)= 100 in simplified. 100 inches= 8 1/3 ft long
A= 8 1/3 ft long.
For B, you are dividing since you are trying to figure out the length of a newborn, not an adult polar bear. 9/8 turned into a mixed fraction is
1 1/8 ft. But, it asks in inches.
B= 13 1/2 inches
I know this answer is very long but I hope it helps you understand better!

X=7w^+4w-6 and y=w^-11w+13
aleksandr82 [10.1K]
Although the terms might seem intimidating, this is a simple substitution problem.

X + Y = _______
Substitute the values of X and Y in terms of w
(7w^2 + 4w - 6) + (w^2 - 11w + 13) = ______
Now all you need to do is combine like terms (terms that have the same variables raised to the same power)
8w^2 - 7w + 7

Final Answer: 8w^2 - 7w + 7

List all the transformations that are rigid motions.
chubhunter [2.5K]

A rigid motion is any motion that doesn't deform the original shape - it's a motion that preserves the lengths and angles of a shape without stretching, squishing, or bending anything. The best way to think about rigid motions is to imagine holding something solid in your hand, like a smartphone. How can you move it around? You can rotate it around in your hand, changing its orientation; you can move your hand around through space, changing the smartphone's position. While it may not seem like a motion, you can also hold it up to a mirror, reflecting it in some way. These three transformations, rotation, translation (shifting position), and reflection, are the three primary rigid motions.
