The song is sung by Little Cosette while dreaming of a better life instead of the life with the Thénardiers. She dreams of a "castle on a cloud", a realm of her own imagination where all children are free to play and she is loved. The third verse speaks of a lady all in white who loves her and it is implied that this is her vision of her mother, Fantine. Madame Thénardier intervenes during the song and verbally abuses Cosette, ordering to "draw some water from the well in the wood", despite the fact that it is cold outside and Cosette is afraid. Meanwhile, Madame Thénardier dotes on her own young daughter Éponine.

-how do photographs convey meaning? How do viewers contribute to constructing that meaning?
Alina [70]

Explanation:

Photographs convey a tremendous sense of meaning. The difference in photograph techniques that you use to take different types of photographs can have a big contrast in what you're trying to portray through that image, whether that would be depending on the mood, emotion, or other characteristics.

For example, using the rule of thirds to take a photograph will bring up focus to the subject involved in the photo, whether that would be a person, an animal, etc. This technique can be used to create a natural and pleasing effect on the background and the subject.

I won't be listing all of the techniques that photographers use. There are an endless amount of techniques that they use to show what they really are trying to convey, and is pleasing to the eye of the viewer at the same time.

But, here is my point. Photography is used to convey various senses of emotion, and through using various photography techniques, it is not only pleasing to the eye but is also a work of art.

I hope this helped you in any way!

How does knowing the context of an art piece affect our understanding?
motikmotik
Artistic value in a person when they're painting or performing art is an expressive technique for us to understand their contextual upbringings. Like music or other forms of art, composers and artists value their context as being the fundamental and concrete moral when they're doing art. Certain attributes connote to specific timespans and as we grow older to appreciate composers' artistic flair, the more we begin to understand about their past.

An exemplified example is a cinematic example, Metropolis (1927), this film is regarded as the forefront of modernist views, a pioneer that was underrated during its time. The dark ambiance, yet subtle hints at the destruction of the new sparked a new generation of Modernist and Post-Modernist views. Fritz Lang's use of silence in this film was a crucial cinematic technique during the 1920's, and with this being one of the last standing silent films, we know straight away that it is from that generation or that context.

Context also allows us to understand certain morale during the creation of art and we begin to contemplate with a change in perspectives, particularly when watching a film. Understanding context allows us, as responders, to truly be captivated by Da Vinci's The Last Supper or Van Gogh's Starry, Starry Night as we begin to dive into the minds of these people and their upbringings.
