Answer:

She should use median value rather than average or arithmetic mean.

Step-by-step explanation:

In statistics, when computing averages, extreme values may affect the result. To prevent this, median values are used rather than averages.

For example Maya gathered 5 of their neighborhood home values as

$10000, $20000, $12000,$18000 and $500000

then if she uses arithmetic mean, She would conclude that mean home value is \frac{$10000+$15000+$12000+$18000+$550000}{5} =$112000. As seen, $500000 affected the average greatly.

Median value of these home values which is $15000 <em>does not effected greatly</em> from extreme home value $500000 as arithmetic mean did.

Abner wants to create a shopping budget where he spends less than $80 per month on clothes. He also wants to spend at least thre
strojnjashka [21]

Answer:

D) Abner can spend $60 per month on school clothes and $20 per month on gym clothes and stay within his budget.

Step-by-step explanation:

In the problem it states that Abner will spend 3 times more on (s)school clothes than (g) gym clothes.

So it would appear as s ≥ 3g.

If we plug in $60 as s (school clothes) and $20 as g (gym clothes), the statement is true.

60 ≥ 3(20)

60 ≥ 60. These numbers make the linear system true.

If you have trouble with this, an easy way to find this answer is simply creating the linear system that represents the problem, (he will buy 3 times more school clothes than gym clothes) s ≥  3g and plug in each variable from the answer choices until you find the variables that make the linear system true.

What are the values of x that would make the line j parallel to line k? Help me please!
vagabundo [1.1K]

Answer:

For line j to be parallel to line k, then x has to be equal to 0

Step-by-step explanation:

if line j is parallel to line k, then the two angles are equal.

They are equal because they would be alternate angles and alternate angles are equal in value

Thus,

3x + 10 = 5x + 10

5x-3x = 10-10

2x = 0

x = 0
