Answer:

RP = 8 units

Step-by-step explanation:

(x + x + 2) * (x + 2) = (4 + 6) *4

(2x + 2) * (x + 2) =10 * 4

2(x + 1)(x + 2) = 40

(x + 1)(x + 2) = 40/2

= x^2 + 2x + x + 2 = 20

= x^2 + 3x + 2 = 20

= x^2 + 3x - 18 = 0

= x^2 + 6x - 3x - 18 = 0

= x(x + 6) - 3(x + 6) = 0

= (x - 3)(x + 6) = 0

So x = 3, - 6

We know that the length can't be -ve because it's a dimension

So, x = 3

We know that RP = x + 2 + x

So RP = 3 + 2 + 3

= 8

Hope this helps, and please mark me brainliest if it does!

Answer:

RP = 14

Step-by-step explanation:

(whole secant) x (external part) =  (whole secant) x (external part)

(x+x+2) * (x+2) = (4+6)*4

Combine like terms

(2x+2)(x+2)=10*4

2(x+1)(x+2) = 40

Divide by 2

(x+1)(x+2) = 20

FOIL

x^2+2x+x+2 = 20

x^2 +3x+2 =20

Subtract 20

x^2 +3x-18 = 0

Factor

(x +9) (x-6) = 0

Using  the zero product property

x+9=0   x-6 =0

x= -9    x=6

Since the length cannot be negative

x=6

RP = x+2+x = 6+2+6 = 14

What is the rate of heat transfer required to melt 1-ton of ice at 32 F in 24 hours?
LiRa [457]

Answer:

3865.74 J/s

Step-by-step explanation:

mass of ice, m = 1 ton = 1000 kg

time , t = 24 hours

latent heat of fusion of ice, L  = 334000 J/kg

Heat required to melt, H = m x L

where, m is the mass of ice and L be the latent heat of fusion

So, H = 1000 x 334000 = 334 xx 10^6 J

Rate of heat transfer = heat / time = \frac{334\times 10^{6}}{86400}

Rate of heat transfer = 3865.74 J/s

thus, the rate of heat transfer is 3865.74 J/s.

How do I simplify the n^-6*n^3 topic "Negative and Zero Exponents"
Alchen [17]
Since you’re multiplying n^-6 and n^3, you can add the exponents: -6+3 = -3

n^-6 * n^3 = n^-3

If you need to finish without having a negative exponent in your answer, then remember a negative exponent means that factor is on the wrong side of the fraction.

n^-3 = n^-3 / 1 = 1/n^3

when the factor moves to the other side of the fraction, the side of the exponent changes.

Answer:

The answer is x=10

Step-by-step explanation:

5/6x - 10 = 1/3x -5 multiple both sides by 6

5x - 60 = 2x -30 move the terms

5x - 2x = -30 +60

3x = 30 divide by 3

x = 10
