An indirect democracy is where citizens elect people to represent them in government. A direct democracy is where the citizens themselves meet together to discuss government policy. In today's world, the population has grown so much, and most citizens are extremely busy with their jobs and/or hobbies. Due to this, it would be difficult for all the citizens of the U.S to meet together in one place at a time that is agreeable for everyone, and it would take a long amount of time for decisions to be made. So, hiring representatives to make decisions on our behalf makes the whole decision making process more efficient and easy for us all.
