Answer:

Cody and Lara are 12 meters apart.

Step-by-step explanation:

You need to use the Pythagorean theorem.

Draw a triangle with the hypotenuse as the distance between Brenda and Lara, the leg should be the distance between Brenda and Cody and the base should be the distance between Cody and Lara.

Then you plug in the distances for each side of the triangle.

The distance between Brenda and Lara or the hypotenuse of the triangle is 20m. We also know that the distance between Brenda and Cody or the leg of the triangle is 16m.

Then, set up an equation using the pythagorean theorem.

A^2+B^2=C^2

In our case we know A which equals 16 and we know C which equals 20.

Now, you square 20 or the hypotenuse and then subtract 16 squared.

20^2 = 400

16^2 = 256

400 - 256 = 144

144 = 12^2

12 meters is the base and the distance between Cody and Lara.

A tree of unknown height casts a shadow that is 18 feet long. If a person that is 5 ft 7 in casts a shadow that is 4 ft long, th
brilliants [131]

Answer:

25.

Step-by-step explanation:

5 ft 7 in = 5.583 ft.

We have 2 similar triangles here.

If h is the height of the tree, then:

h / 5.583 = 18/4

h = 18*5.583/4

h = 25.12 ft

3A: Determine the value of angle 1 and provide a reason why. *
Otrada [13]

The answer is 45°

By determining the angles of triangle ACB (A=30°, B=45°, C=105° (total of 180°)) and knowing that angle 1 correlates to angle 4 ((1)°=(4)°), we can find angle 1, which is 45°, equal to angle 4.

Please answer ASAP!

Which proportional relationship has the greatest rate of change?
lakkis [162]

Answer:

Option (1) ; y = 7x

Step-by-step explanation:

(1) reads y = 7x, a line with slope 7, therefore the rate of change in this is 7

(2) says that y increases 12 units every time that x increases 4 Then the rate of change is: (increase in y / increase in x = 12/4 =3

(3) shows a table from which we can see that an increase of y in 8 corresponds to an increase of x in 2: rate of change = (8 - 0) , (2 - 0) = 4

(4) shos a line with slope (rate of change) given by: (12 - 0) / (2 - 0) = 12/2 = 6

Therefore, the greatest rate of change is shown by the first expression

y = 7 x
