Doris cried all night. The shelter was very dirty when Mr.Lacey got there. He decided to surprise Doris by keeping the puppy. So, the next day when Doris came downstairs upset, her mom, Mrs.Lacey and her dad, Mr.Lacey surprised her with the puppy, the stray. Doris was extremely excited. It was the best day of her life.
