Explanation: During the cold war ,the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) was created as an investigative body of the United States House of Representative to investigate disloyal Americans who were termed Communist because of the Red Scare that caused tension n America due to the belief that some communists within and outside America were planning to destroy America.

Also McCarthyism became popular during the Red scare because it brought about unessessary and unlawful charges against many Americans especially those in government , labour unions, and those in entertainment based on assumptions

that many of them were Communist thereby increasing fear and suspicion among the American people.
