Here, notice that the difference between -5 and 1/2 and -5 is +1/2.

The difference between -5 and -4 and 1/2 is +1/2

and the difference between -4 and 1/2 and -4 is +1/2.

Continuing the same pattern, -4 + 1/2 will be equal to -3 and 1/2.

-3 and 1/2 + 1/2 will be equal -3

and -3 + 1/2 will be equal to -2 and 1/5.
