The Portuguese in 1517 became the first Europeans to arrive in China in the form of both formal embassy and trading pirates. They began direct trade in China by sea due to their improved marine technology in the 15th and 16th Century. They were the major exporters of Chinese blue and white wares throughout the 16th Century thus were the first Europeans to be influenced by these porcelains. The Portuguese established themselves as significant actors in the trade or exchange of goods between Asian countries and became involved in trade between China and Japan, therefore, earning money to purchase products needed in Europe.
C. Germany. Germany was to pay $6,600,000,000 as a part of the reparations of Europe in the Treaty of Versailles. Some historians believe that because of the large amount, it was one of the leading factors that lead to the Second World War, with broke Germany crying out for a new leader that would salvage them from this huge, tiresome debt; and that, is how Hitler became Furher and Chancellor of Germany from 1933, to 1945.

During the eve of elections in 1896 the democrats had William Jennings Bryan as the party nominee for the president while the republicans nominated William McKinley a former governor and the populists endorsed Bryan. William McKinley was elected as the president of the United States in the elections (1896) defeating the joint democratic and populist nominee Jennings Bryan and other minor- parties candidates. His victory brought in a period of dominance by the republican party.
