Any adult male citizen over the age of 20 could take part, and it was a duty to do so. The offices of the democracy were in part elected by the assembly and in large part chosen by lottery in a process called sortition.

The French colonized the Mississippi, Louisiana, Canada, Great Lake regions, also influenced by Catholicism and with the intent of Trading of fur. I'm not sure but here are some things europeans take from Africa and I hope this counts

Africans were either captured in warning raids or kidnapped and taken to the port by African slave traders. There they were exchanged for iron, guns, gunpowder, mirrors, knives, cloth, and beads brought by boat from Europe. When Europeans arrived along the West African coast, slavery already existed on the continent.
