So we have,y + x  = 30

The difference of the 2 numbers = 4

so x - y = 4

Adding the 2 equations obtained in step 2 we have,

2 x = 34 => x = 17

x + y = 30 => y = 30-x= 30 - 17 = 13

So 17 and 13 are the 2 numbers.
