Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

One side of the square = 20 cm

Therefore, Area of the square = side × side

= 20 cm × 20 cm

\:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  = 400 {cm}^{2}

Also, known that

One side of the square = Diameter of the circle = 20 cm

So, radius of the circle = 20/2 cm = 10 cm

Therefore, area of the square

\:  \:  \:  \:  \: \ \:  \:  \:  \:  = \pi{r}^{2}

= 3.14 \times  {(10cm)}^{2}

= 3.14 \times 100 {cm}^{2}

= 314 {cm}^{2}

Hence, area of the shaded region is

= Area of the square. - Area of the circle

= 400 {cm}^{2}  - 314 {cm}^{2}

= 86 {cm}^{2} (ans)

Answer:

86 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>1) Calculate the area of the square</u>

A=lw\\A=20*20\\A=400

Therefore, the area of the square is 400 cm².

<u>2) Calculate the area of the circle</u>

A=\pi r^2\\

\pi we can substitute with 3.14. To find the radius, we divide the diameter of the circle by 2. 20 cm is the diameter of the circle, so therefore, its radius is 10 cm.

A=3.14*10^2\\A=3.14*100\\A=314

Therefore, the area of the circle is 314 cm².

<u>3) Subtract the area of the circle from the area of the square</u>

A=400-314\\A=86

Therefore, the area of the shaded region is 86 cm².

I hope this helps!

uranmaximum [27]

Answer:

  1/6

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the proportion of time the third person spends on the project. You want ...

  1/2 + 1/3 + x = 1 . . . . full-time equivalents

  5/6 + x = 1 . . . . simplify

  x = 1/6 . . . . . . . subtract 5/6

The third person should budget 1/6 of their time to the project.

Explain why a quadratic function is a reasonable model for revenue. choose the correct answer below.
Andrei [34K]
Revenue = Sales Volume (x) times Price. Price depends on volume sold: the more you are willing to sell per week, the lower your average price will have to be to get them all sold.

<span>eg, if there are a fixed number of buyers with a variety of incomes, then you might be able to sell the first 10 per month for £30 each through the up-market High Street jeweller. If you want to sell an extra 10 per month you might have to reduce the price to £15 and sell them through Asda/WalMart. And to move another 10 per month you may have to sell them from a street stall at £5 each! </span>

For 1983 through 1989, the per capita consumption of chicken in the u.S. Increased at a rate that was approximately linear. In 1
Volgvan

We have been given that in 1983, the per capita consumption was 39.7 pounds, and in 1989 it was 47 pounds.

Let us assume t=0 corresponds to year 1980.

Hence, we can express the given information as ordered pairs as (3,39.7) and (9,47).

We can to find a linear function passing through these points. Let us first find slope of the linear function:

m=\frac{y_{2}-y_{1} }{t_{2}-t_{1}} =\frac{47-39.7}{9-3} =\frac{7.3}{6} =\frac{73}{60}

We can write the required linear function as:

y-39.7=\frac{73}{60}(t-3)

Upon simplifying  this, we get:

y=\frac{73}{60}t+\frac{721}{20}

In order to find per capita consumption in 1995, we need to substitute t=15 in this function.

y=\frac{73}{60}(15)+\frac{721}{20}=54.3

Therefore, we would expect the per capita consumption of chicken in 1995 to be 54.3.
