Mistakes like this sound overly informal or colloquial for a written forum. The usage may be okay in a casual conversation, but it may always sound wrong to someone who knows the rule.  

An argument against changing the caption:

The caption should stay the same. The usage is changing and a forum such as a website should reflect the way that the majority of people use these words. There are some situations in which breaking the rule sounds normal, especially when spoken in a conversation: "Me and Daniel applied to the same university." However, the switch may not work with all sentences. For example, "Trent was unreasonably rude to I." This sentence sounds awkward, even in an informal context.
