Answers:  For our given data set:
_________________________________
The mean is:  0. 14286
The median is: 8
The mode is: 8.
The range is:  16.
_________________________________
Explanation:
_________________________________
Arrange the numbers in the data set given from least to greatest:

{2, 5, 8, 8, 14, 16, 18} ;
__________________________________________
The mean is the calculated by the taking the sum of all the numbers in the data set, and dividing that value by the number of values in the data set;

       [2 + 5 + 8 + 8 + 14 + 16+ 18] / 7 = [71] / 7 = 10.1428571428571429

                             ---> We may want to round that number to:
                                               10. 14286
_______________________________________________________
The median is the value that appears in the that appears in the middle of the data set, when the number are arranged from least to greatest, or greatest to least.  For cases in which there are an even number of values, the median is calculated by taken the mean of the two values in the data set that are closest to the middle of the values in the data set.

For our given data set, the median is:  "<span>8" .
</span>_______________________________________________
The mode is the value in the data which occurs most frequently.

For our given data set, the mode is: "8".  The value "8" occurs twice; and no other value occurs twice or more than twice.
_______________________________________________
The range is calculated by taking the difference in value from the lowest value in the data set from the highest value in the data set.

For our given data set, the range is:

"18 <span>− 2 = 16 " .</span>

Mode is the most.
What number appears the most? 8. 8 appears twice.

Mean is the average.
Add up all the numbers. 5+8+16+14+2+18+8=71
Then divide by how many numbers there are. 71/7=10.1

Median is alway in-between.
If you set up a number line in order of least to greatest, what number is in the middle?
2,5,8,8,14,16,18
we can erase the numbers on each end to find the middle.
2,5,8,8,14,16,18
   5,8,8,14,16
      8,8,14,16
         8,14
Uh oh! There are two numbers in the middle. In this case you find the average of these two numbers.
8+14= 22
22/2=11

The range is the highest number in your set of data minus the lowest number in your set of data.
So, 18-2=16

In conclusion...
Mode:8
Mean:10.1
Median:11
Range:16

jasenka [17]

For this case we have that the quotient of 6 and a number, can be expressed as:

\frac {6} {x}

Where the variable "x" represents the incognito number.

Now we have that expression is subtracted from 100. Now, we can write the following:

100- \frac {6} {x}

Find the area of the shaded region in square units. Show your reasoning.
motikmotik

Answer:

40 square units

Step-by-step explanation:

First of all, lets say that square has side l, so, the area unit is l^2

the diagonal's square is l\sqrt{2}

CALCULATION OF TRIANGLES'S AREA (there are 4 triangles)

A_{triangles}=4*base*heigh*0.5=2*(l\sqrt{2} )(2l\sqrt{2} )=8l^2

CALCULATION OF MAIN SQUARE AREA

A_{square}=side*side=(4\sqrt{2} l)(4\sqrt{2} l)=32l^2

TOTAL AREA

A_{total}=A_{triangles}+A_{square}=8l^2+32l^2=40l^2
