Answer:

20 number of 20p makes £4.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of 20p be x

Therefore,

                x \times 0.20 = 4\\\\x = \frac{4}{0.20} = \frac{4 \times 100}{ 20} = 4 \times 5 = 20

Solve for the variable in the following proportion.
erastovalidia [21]

Answer:  b = 10

Step-by-step explanation:

We want a ratio of b/2 that is equal to the ratio of 1/4 to 1 1/4 (or 5/4).

Ratio of (1/4)/(5/4):

(1/4)/(5/4) = (1/4)*(4/5) = 4/20 = 1/5 or 0.2

We want 2/b = 1/5 or 0.20

2/b = 0.20

b = 2/0.20

b = 10

--

Check:  Does 10/2 = (1/4)/(5/4)?

Yes

b is 10

Gareth has a deck of cards with 12 challenge cards and 8 prize cards. Gareth is going to randomly select a card from the deck 14
GuDViN [60]

Answer:

Gareth has a deck of cards with 12 challenge cards and 8 prize cards.

=> The probability he selects a prize card: P = 8/(12 + 8) = 8/20 = 0.4

Gareth is going to randomly select a card from the deck 148 times, replacing the card and shuffling the deck after each selection .

=>The randomness is kept same for all selecting times

Then the best prediction for the number of times Gareth will select a prize card:

=> N = 0.4 x 148 = 59.2 = 59 times

Hope this helps!

Anybody know how to do algebra?
Inessa [10]

Answer:

The solution of a system of equations is the point(s) that lies on both lines. Therefore if the 2 lines cross over each other then there is exactly one solution. If they have no solution it means they are parallel since they don't share a single point and if they are overlapping lines then there is an infinite amount of solutions since they share the same points.

In this case it must have 1 solution.

To find which point is correct you should be able to plug in the same point for the x and y of the equations so that they are valid.

For example in the equation y=2x and y=-1/2x we need to find the point in which will work for both equations. In this case 0,0 is correct (0=0, 0=0)

So lets plug in the points and find the correct solution:

A. -1=-2+5

    -1=-3 - this isn't true since -1 cant possibly equal -3. Therefore this point is incorrect.

B. 3=-2+5

     3=3 - this is valid

______________

    3=-2(-2)-1

      3=4-1

      3=3 - this is also valid

Therefore B is correct

(-2, 3)
