Which line from Anthem best illustrates how the author uses a dystopian setting to develop a theme? I stand here on the summit o

f the mountain. My hands . . . My spirit . . . My sky . . . My forest . . . This earth of mine . . . I know not if this earth on which I stand is the core of the universe or if it is but a speck of dust lost in eternity. But such has been the story, for I have lived in the City of the damd, and I know what horror men permitted to be brought upon them.

Dystopian literature is a variety of fictional genre used to survey social and political compositions in 'a gloomy, horrific background.' The term dystopia is an antonym for "utopia". It is defined as a society characterized by deficiency, immorality or tyranny and the theme is generally employed in science-fiction and other tentative fictional genres.

Dystopian worlds aim at disastrous regimes and civilizations where things can only be ranged from bad to worse. Dystopian settings are rough, severe, and focus on putrefaction and failure.

Here, this idea is presented in the final line of the provided poem. The line is mentioned below:

“...for I have lived in the City of the damd, and I know what horror men permitted to be brought upon them."

What does the cat in "Once Upon a Time" symbolize?
Ad libitum [116K]
The cat represents danger or ill omens. Since the 14th century, there has been a symbolic association with black cats and the Devil. Occasionally, it was believed that agents of the Devil, particularly demons and witches took the shape of these animals and, lacking a soul, appeared black. The presence of these animals have remained as symbols of misfortune or impending danger throughout modern works as well.
