He was rom East Tennessee and had a solid reputation for enjoying storytelling and hunting and fishing. He became a colonel for the Lawrence County, Tennessee Militia and later elected to the Tennessee state legislature. He was elected for the U.S. Congress in 1826 and was known for his opposing much of what Andrew Jackson was working at doing, in specifically the Indian Removal Act.

On July 4, 1776 The Declaration of Independence was presented by Congress noting the independence from Great Britain and the rule of King George III. The Declaration of Independence had three parts to it. Part I spoke about the rights of all men to have freedom of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Part II spoke about how awful the King treated the people and what their reactions were. Part III spoke about how problems were addressed and how now the people can have wealth, and live independently and not in fear. The writers of the Declaration of Independence were able to accomplish their goals because they were able to establish their own government. This was done after they'd gained independence from Britain. However, we as a country have not been entirely living up to the ideals expressed in the Declaration. One of the main concepts stated was that “all men are created equal.” This ultimately referred more to white landowning man as opposed to mankind in general. Many of the people who first drafted and were involved with the Declaration were slave owners, including Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. In present day, even the justice system as portrayed in the Declaration is flawed. America leads the world in the number of people imprisoned, and a high percentage of them are African Americans. This is not only because we have high crime rates, but also because our justice system is flawed in many ways. Also, although we have “free” elections, the majority of American people are uninformed of national and domestic issues and cannot make logical decisions for the well-being of the country when they cast their vote. Instead of increasing national spending and therefore increasing the gap between the rich and the poor, the United States could make huge progress by addressing unemployment and other domestic issues in order to make America into a more functional and progressive society. One of the main statements of the Declaration that are not lived up to is the basic right to pursue happiness. Personal rights are inhibited for many American people. Women, gay people, and both religious and ethnic minorities are oppressed and restricted in many ways from pursuing what makes them happy. Although America has made notable improvements, and we have managed to avoid a tyranny since the country has been founded, there are many improvements that need to be made in order to change our country so that it can abide by the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence. The D.o.I was a social Contract is when members of a society cooperate to get social benefits. The social contract theory can be found in part II of the Declaration of Independence. The idea of having a social contract and natural rights weighed heavily on the colonist when they challenged Europe on their economics and politics. With the social contract if they felt the government was going against them, they could just void the contract.  "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it". As an American colonist I would have absolutely supported the Declaration of Independence because it would have guaranteed me my freed and some other rights that I may not have otherwise had; for It does not matter who you are, everyone are entitled to rights. It doesn't matter, race, color,  creed or religion, rights are due to all. Initially women weren't afforded those rights during the  time of the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence states that we hold these things evident that all men are created equal. The Declaration of Independence also goes on to  say that because all men have this right they have the power to fight for these natural rights and the rights of an individual free man.  "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

I assume you mean what challenges after they gained independence. They had many internal conflicts. This included fighting about religion. There were also natural disasters. There was the problem of transitioning directly from a dictatorship to a democracy.
