The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options attached, we can say the following.

Thaddeus Stevens believed that the former Confederate states should be treated as territories because they had made the decision to secede from the Union and these seceded states were very conscious of what they were doing and the consequences.

Stevens said that the rebel states <em>"had taken themselves out of the Union when they seceded."</em> That is why they had to be dealt with as territories. He suggested forming five districts with military leaders at the front.

Thaddeus Stevens (1792-1868) was one of the toughest radical Republicans in the US Congress, who strongly opposed Reconstruction as President Abraham Lincoln had proposed. Stevenson believed that the Confederate states should get a harsh punishment for the damage created in war.

Compare and contrast bathing traditions in western Europe, Japan, and Southwest Asia.
olya-2409 [2.1K]

The bathing traditions across the world differ from one another, and there's always a good reason behind it.

Western Europe's bathing tradition is pretty much in the sense of avoiding the bathing as much as possible. People were going for months without bathing. The reason behind that were the diseases, such as the plague, and it was well known that the less hygienic someone is, the lesser the chances of getting a disease because the body will be more resistant.

In Japan, the bathing tradition was seen as a must, as the Japanese had in their culture that they should always be clean, smell nicely, but also it was an act of purifying. So the bathing in Japan, very often with nice smelling plants, was a common thing.

In Southeast Asia, people very bathing constantly, mostly in the rivers and lakes. The reason for that was neither beauty and prestige, nor threat of diseases, but it was practical. The region is hot, the humidity high, so people were and still are bathing multiple times during the day in order to cool off.

What factors led to europeans taking muslim land
sergij07 [2.7K]
A map of the land trade route from Europe to Asia along the Silk Road. Image credit: M’ ships brought Europeans valuable goods, traveling between the port cities of western Europe and the East from the 10th century on along routes collectively labeled the Silk Road. However, transporting goods along the Silk Road was costly, slow, and unprofitable. Muslim middlemen collected taxes as the goods changed hands. Robbers waited to ambush treasure-laden caravans.
As well as seeking a water passage to the wealthy cities of the East, sailors wanted to find a route to the exotic and wealthy Spice Islands in modern-day Indonesia, whose location was kept secret by Muslim rulers. The lure of profit pushed explorers to seek new trade routes to the Spice Islands and to eliminate Muslim middlemen.
