Answer:

Two friends Raman and Sarthak were passing through a dense forest. Suddenly they heard a loud roar of the tiger, they trembled for a second, shivering in fear. "Raman we should go back now, it isn't safe anymore..." Sarthak warned him, knowing that danger was approaching. "Sarthak, do you know how important this mission is? We are a step closer to finding the diamond in the forest! I am not leaving until I find it!" Raman blustered, aggravated over the fact that Sarthak was not opstimitic as he thought about the mission. "Sarthak, look! It's the diamond! Let's dash towards there!" Raman whooped in joy. "Raman, wait-" before Sarthak could finish his sentence, Raman grabbed Sarthak's arm and dragged him as he ran towards the diamond. Roar! It's the humongous, terrorful beast, standing in the way of it's prey. "Sarthak, I am going to find a way to defeat the lion to get the diamond!" Raman clamored. He ran in a zig-zagged line to try making the lion confused, instead he got eaten up by the lion. "No! Raman!" Sarthak screamed, wailing in terror. He tried to run as fast as he could away from the lion as it was consuming Raman.

Title: The failed attempt of two friends.

Moral of the story: Your life is much more valuable than anything else.

(I apologise if this was horrible, I had to rush it since I had schoolwork and revision to do, if this is too long you can use this essay and make it into a shorter version of how you want)

Answer:

The allusion to Goliath affects readers' understanding of the passage because:

3. It makes the restaurateur's challenge seem daunting but surmountable.

Explanation:

Allusion is a figure of speech in which the writer mentions a character or element belonging to another well-known story. In this case, the author alludes to Goliath, a character found in the Bible. Goliath was a giant warrior tremendously feared by all. He was, however, defeated by young and small David. By using this allusion, the author implies that the restaurateur is like David, and that the restaurant chains are like Goliath. The same way David was able to face and defeat Goliath, so can the restaurateur win his battle against restaurant chains. With that in mind, we can choose number 3 as the correct option:

3. It makes the restaurateur's challenge seem daunting but surmountable.
