Answer:

trapezoid one is 336 inches  squared

trapezoid two is 9 inches squared

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for a trapezoid is b1+b2 so the number on the top line = the number on the bottom line, you then multiply your new number by the height which is the number bye the dotted red line.

Hope this helps!

What is an equation of the line that passes through the points (4,4) and (8.1)
andrey2020 [161]

Answer:

  • y = - 3/4x + 7

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Use both points and find the slope:</u>

  • m = (1 - 4) / (8 - 4) = - 3/4

<u>Find the line, using point-slope form and point (4, 4):</u>

  • y - 4 = - 3/4(x - 4)
  • y - 4 = - 3/4x + 3
  • y = - 3/4x + 7

Q: A cell phone company charges $60.00 a month for up to 1 gigabyte of data. The cost of additional data is $0.05 per megabyte.
DiKsa [7]

The linear equation which can be used to determine a user's monthly

bill is c = 60 + 0.05 d ⇒ D

Step-by-step explanation:

The given is:

  • A cell phone company charges $60.00 a month for up to 1 gigabyte of data
  • The cost of additional data is $0.05 per megabyte
  • d represents the number of additional megabytes used
  • c represents the total charges at the end of the month

We need to find which equation can be used to determine a user's monthly bill

The form of the linear equation is y = mx + b, where b is the constant amount and m is the rate of change

∵ The company charges $60.00 a month for up to 1 gigabyte of data

- That means it is a constant amount each month

∴ b = 60

∵ The cost of additional data is $0.05 per megabyte

- That means it depends on the number of additional megabyte,

so it is not constant, it is the rate of change

∴ m = 0.05

∵ d represents the number of additional megabytes

∴ x = d

∵ c represents the total charges at the end of the month

∴ y = c

Substitute y by c, m by 0.05, x by d and b by 60 in the form of the linear equation above

∴ c = 0.05 d + 60

- We can rearrange the terms of the right hand side

∴ c = 60 + 0.05 d

The linear equation which can be used to determine a user's monthly

bill is c = 60 + 0.05 d

write a function g whose graph represents a translation 2 units to the right followed by a horizontal stretch by a factor or 2 o
Alenkinab [10]
\bf f(x)=&{{ A}}({{ B}}x+{{ C}})+{{ D}}&#10;\\ \quad \\&#10;y=&{{ A}}({{ B}}x+{{ C}})+{{ D}}&#10;\\ \quad \\&#10;f(x)=&{{ A}}\sqrt{{{ B}}x+{{ C}}}+{{ D}}&#10;\\ \quad \\&#10;f(x)=&{{ A}}(\mathbb{R})^{{{ B}}x+{{ C}}}+{{ D}}&#10;\\ \quad \\&#10;f(x)=&{{ A}} sin\left({{ B }}x+{{ C}} \right)+{{ D}}\\\\&#10;f(x)=&{{ A}} \left|{{ B }}x+{{ C}} \right|+{{ D}}&#10;\\\\&#10;--------------------\\\\

\bf \bullet \textit{ stretches or shrinks horizontally by  } {{  A}}\cdot {{  B}}\\\\&#10;\bullet \textit{ flips it upside-down if }{{  A}}\textit{ is negative}\\&#10;\left. \qquad   \right.  \textit{reflection over the x-axis}&#10;\\\\&#10;\bullet \textit{ flips it sideways if }{{  B}}\textit{ is negative}\\&#10;\left. \qquad   \right.  \textit{reflection over the y-axis}

\bf \bullet \textit{ horizontal shift by }\frac{{{  C}}}{{{  B}}}\\&#10;\left. \qquad  \right. if\ \frac{{{  C}}}{{{  B}}}\textit{ is negative, to the right}\\\\&#10;\left. \qquad  \right.  if\ \frac{{{  C}}}{{{  B}}}\textit{ is positive, to the left}\\\\&#10;\bullet \textit{ vertical shift by }{{  D}}\\&#10;\left. \qquad  \right. if\ {{  D}}\textit{ is negative, downwards}\\\\&#10;\left. \qquad  \right. if\ {{  D}}\textit{ is positive, upwards}\\\\&#10;\bullet \textit{ period of }\frac{2\pi }{{{  B}}}

with that template in mind, let's see,

\bf f(x)=|x| \implies \begin{array}{lllccll}&#10;f(x)=&1|&1x&+0|&+0\\&#10;&\uparrow &\uparrow &\uparrow &\uparrow \\&#10;&A&B&C&D&#10;\end{array}

so, to shift it to the right by 2 units, simply set C = 2.
to stretch it by 2, set A = 1/2.

the smaller A is, the wider it opens, the larger it is, the more it shrinks.

Cody is designing a pattern for a wood floor the length of the pieces of wood are 1 1/2 inches 1 13/16 inches and 2 1/8 inches w
erastovalidia [21]

Well, you only listed three pieces so far.  But I can already see a
pattern emerging from those three.

Of course, the next piece might return to 1-1/2 inches.  I mean,
the pattern can't just keep on going and increasing forever or
Cody would eventually wind up with pieces that are a mile long.
It must eventually return to 1-1/2 inches and start over from there.

From the first piece to the second one, and from the second one
to the third one, the increase is  5/16 inch both times.  So if the
pattern is more than three pieces long before it starts over from
1-1/2, then the next piece is

             (2-1/8 + 5/16) = (2-2/16 + 5/16)  =  2-7/16 inches .
