Answer:  The Battle of the Wilderness started Lt. Gen Ulysses S. Grant's 1864 Overland Campaign against the Confederate army of Northern Virginia that ultimately, after many weeks and terrible fatalities, forced Gen. Robert E. Lee's men back to the defenses at Richmond.

Confederate casualties were about 11,400, with estimates of about 1,500 killed, 8,000 wounded and 1,700 caught or missing. Relying on these numbers The Battle of the Wilderness was the fourth bloodiest battle of the Civil War, ranking behind Gettysburg, Chickamauga and Spottsylvania.

Keith_Richards [23]

Answer:Was Andrew Jackson a great president? Opinions are mixed. What is yours? Consider the words that Jackson biographer James Parton wrote in 1859: "Andrew Jackson, I am given to understand, was a patriot and a traitor. He was one of the greatest of generals, and wholly ignorant of the art of war... He was tbe most candid of men. and was capable of the profoundest dissimulation... A democratic autocrat [ dictator]. An urbane [ sophisticated] savage. An atrocious [ awful] saint." Now write a well-constructed essay of your own about the quality of the Jackson presidency. Be sure to start with a clear thesis statement and then give specific examples of events and issues to support your position.
