Answer:

120 miles in 2 hour

Step-by-step explanation:

One hour has 4 times 15 minutes, so you need to do 15 miles x 4 and that time 2 because its 2 hours.

Suppose brine containing 0.2 kg of salt per liter runs into a tank initially filled with 500 L of water containing 5 kg of salt.
Oliga [24]

Answer:

(a) 0.288 kg/liter

(b) 0.061408 kg/liter

Step-by-step explanation:

(a) The mass of salt entering the tank per minute, x = 0.2 kg/L × 5 L/minute = 1 kg/minute

The mass of salt exiting the tank per minute = 5 × (5 + x)/500

The increase per minute, Δ/dt, in the mass of salt in the tank is given as follows;

Δ/dt = x - 5 × (5 + x)/500

The increase, in mass, Δ, after an increase in time, dt, is therefore;

Δ = (x - 5 × (5 + x)/500)·dt

Integrating with a graphing calculator, with limits 0, 10, gives;

Δ = (99·x - 5)/10

Substituting x = 1 gives

(99 × 1 - 5)/10 = 9.4 kg

The concentration of the salt and water in the tank after 10 minutes = (Initial mass of salt in the tank + Increase in the mass of the salt in the tank)/(Volume of the tank)

∴ The concentration of the salt and water in the tank after 10 minutes = (5 + 9.4)/500 = (14.4)/500 = 0.288

The concentration of the salt and water in the tank after 10 minutes = 0.288 kg/liter

(b) With the added leak, we now have;

Δ/dt = x - 6 × (14.4 + x)/500

Δ = x - 6 × (14.4 + x)/500·dt

Integrating with a graphing calculator, with limits 0, 20, gives;

Δ = 19.76·x -3.456 = 16.304

Where x = 1

The increase in mass after an increase in = 16.304 kg

The total mass = 16.304 + 14.4 = 30.704 kg

The concentration of the salt in the tank then becomes;

Concentration = 30.704/500 = 0.061408 kg/liter.

G. The shape would be similar since dilation at the origin is just a translation and a translation doesn't affect the shape's size or shape.

h. They will still be similar because adding length to each side will just make the shape larger, and if the shape hasn't changed (which it hasn't) it will remain similar.

I. This is simple, just write an equation of the changes you could do the shape and it would be similar. You would have to explain how many you should move and from which sides (should be all sides). It is better for you to do this because there are millions of possible equations, and if you use the same one then it might be striked.

Evaluate 4(5×1÷20). Name the property used in each step.
vekshin1
Start with the brackets. Then do 5 multiply 1 which is 5 then divide that 5 from 20 which gets you 4. Times the outside of the brackets with the inside which will give you the answer of 16

Water is leaking out of an inverted conical tank at a rate of 6800.0 cubic centimeters per min at the same time that water is be
m_a_m_a [10]

Answer:

6.82 mt^3/min

Step-by-step explanation:

By congruence of triangles, the radius r of the cone base when its height is 1 meter satisfies the relation

r/1 = 2.5/6

(See picture attached)

So, r = 0.4166 meters when the water is 1 meter high.

The volume of a cone with radius of the base = R is given by

V=\frac{\pi R^2h}{3}

So, the volume of water when it is 1 meter high is

V=\frac{\pi* 0.(4166)^2}{3}=0.1817\;mt^3

One minute later, the height of the water is 1 meter + 30 centimeters = 1.30 mt

The radius now satisfies

r/1.3 = 2.5/6

and now the radius of the base is

r = 0.5416 mt

and the new volume of water is 0.3071\;mt^3

So, the water is raising at a speed of

0.3071-0.1871 = 0.12 mt^3/min

This speed equals the difference between the water being pumped and the water leaking,

So,

0.12 = Speed of water being pumped -6.8

and

Speed of water being pumped = 6.8+0.12 = 6.82 mt^3/min
