Outside, an early spring rain tapped a pleasing rhythm on the window pane while Elizabeth nestled in her favorite easy chair by

the fireplace. The hearth was stone cold, as it hadn’t been used in months, but it still comforted her just to sit near it. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, the light within the room grew dim, and Elizabeth reached up to turn on her reading lamp. The mystery novel she’d been reading was a gripping tale of dastardly capers. It was so engrossing that the day had passed almost without her notice. Coming to the end of a chapter, she closed the book and stared straight ahead. Gradually, she became aware of the refrigerator’s hum and the ticking of the wall clock, the gentle sounds she could always count on, like good friends.
Read this sentence from the passage above.

Coming to the end of a chapter, she closed the book and stared straight ahead.

How could the sentence best be rewritten to convey that Elizabeth is feeling content?
A.
As she finished the chapter, her heart pounded as she wondered what would happen next.
B.
Coming to the end of a chapter, she laid her head against the chair back and sighed dreamily.
C.
The book had her on the edge of her seat, and she let out a gasp as she finished the chapter.
D.
Elizabeth drummed her fingers on the arm of the chair, wishing the action in the book would pick up a bit.

From the book the giver, explain how families are formed in Jonas's community and why this is significant so far in the story, w
Pie

Here are some of the ways the families are significant, I'm not sure how far you are in the story yet tho. I read this book last year, so I can't remember which parts these are from

1) The way they have 2 children to a family, one male and one female

2) Raising children were rules in the community

3) The parents aren't the real birth givers of the children, you had to apply for kids

4) Very controlled family with special practices

Hope this helps! (I believe it's all before chapter 10)

Truth be told, it could be two. A would make sense in that the way the sentence is worded, the turtle herself seems weak. while C is also true to the word dragging as that would make it's movements awkward and difficult. I'd say your best bet would be C as turtles heavy backs and it's slowly speed would make the term "Dragging" make more sense.

A tyrant will always find a pretext for his tyranny meaning
egoroff_w [7]

Answer:

One common characteristic of all tyrants is that they always find a reason to continue ruling.

Explanation:

Tyrannies always find a reason for not giving the power to other rulers, their pretext is that no one can do the job as well as they do.

Tyrannies always blame foreign countries or parts of their own societies for their problems.

In the case of Nazi Germany, Hitler blamed the Jews for Germany´s economic problems, once he had German Jews in ruin, he continued with the Jews in other countries, this ended in 2nd World War.

In Cuba, Castro blamed the United States for his poor economy, although he could never solve Cuba´s problems, he keft power till the end.
